Remarks: Frequently Asked Questions: Q. Is the boat in or out of the water presently; is the mast standing; when last was it dried-out? A. Currently in the water at her berth. Mast standing. Boat last out of the water February 2005 for usual scrub and anti-foul. Q. What treatment has the hull had, and when (epoxy and/or anti-foul)? A. Anti-foul as above. Two coats usually - high quality International. Also renew shaft anodes every year. Q. When will the hull be due for its next complete scrub-back (how many “layers” of anti-foul, when last epoxied)? A. Don't know about epoxied. There's no mention of that in the original details and all I've ever done each year is anti-foul. There is no history of osmosis mentioned or known. Q. Is the last survey report you refer to available? A. I thought it was in my file but it's not. So I'll try and find it or request another copy from the surveyor and you can have sight of it when you visit. Q. Basically, how dry is the boat (below water-line and top-sides)? A. Not sure what that means but the boat is dry. The mast is keel stepped and as such, from time to time is heavy rain, you'll get water dribbling into the bilge down the mast but that's why there's a heavy duty bilge pump. Having said that there has been no dribbling for a while now because I rebooted the base of the mast. Q. The ballast/displacement ratio is impressive, but obviously places pressure on the standing rigging! What is the robustness and condition of the mast and stays? A. Very good condition. I had the whole rig tested and tuned Summer 2004. The rigging is racing class as is all deck equipment. Q. Your inventory fails to mention such practical necessities as fenders, mooring buoys, anchor, chain, warp, mooring lines, radar reflectors, wind instruments, dan -buoys, tender, auxiliary motor, etc, all of which would usually come with the boat. May I assume that you are transferring these to your new boat? A. Included are: fenders, main anchor, chain warp (I think it may be 20 metres), warps various, mooring lines, radar reflector and wind instruments. Excluded: tender, auxiliary, dan-buoys (don't have one) Q. You refer to the Garmin GPS 65. My enquiry into this model seems to imply that this is a hand-held GPS. Is the system you refer to the one in the photo? A. The GPS 65 is the one in the photograph. I have the manual also. It's not hand-held. Q. Your repeater refers to depth log, but you fail to mention a fish-finder/depth-sunder! Is this part of the Garmin GPS? A. The repeater shows depth, speed/log and wind speed. I don't think the heading repeater option is connected etc. Q. With the exception of your new VHF, are all the other instruments included? A. Yes. The chart plotter table is included but not the chart plotter which is not shown in the pictures anyway. Q. What Amp/hour batteries are included, and what is their condition? A. They were new in 1999. I'm afraid I don't know the amp/hour but they are boat the same and very heavy duty. I've only ever charged them up three of four times as they hold their charge really well. Q. You refer to an outboard bracket (for an auxiliary motor I assume), is the auxiliary included? A. Sorry, no. Q. The spinnaker photo-shots seem to indicate a boarding-ladder. Is this the case? A. Yes, a removable boarding ladder is included Q. I cannot detect a forestay for hanking-on the sail wardrobe you refer to. Has the roller-reefed genoa taken precedence, or is there something I have missed? A. Correct. To make use of the extra Genoa sails you'd need to remove the roller reefing system or bung up another forestay. Q. Not having any photos of the traveler or main blocks, what is the condition of these, what system, what purchase ratio? A. Condition is excellent I would say. I have no idea about purchase ratio (bit to techie for me that one). As I mentioned, all fittings are really substantial. Check up the attached pictures. Q. The drainage from the cockpit is not apparent in the photo’s, may I assume it drains adequately? A. Two large drainage holes in the cockpit floor. Drains fast enough. Q. Are all the winches and clutches working freely? What condition are the sheets and halyards in? A. Yes, all working perfectly. Sheets/halyards perfectly fine. Q. Do you have a down-haul mechanism fitted to the main slab-reefing system? A. No. You would usually be at the mast and hook a reef cringle. But reefing lines are led to the boom end. Q. What condition are the hatches in? A. Seem fine to me. Q. What is the condition of the engine and when last was it serviced? A. Engine runs fine and is services every year (oil, filter etc). Last year I also changed the gear box oil Q. What would have been your next projects for upkeep/maintenance or enhancements? A. Due out for anti-fouled around October/November, replace anodes but apart from that I had no other projects in mind to be honest. Owner's comments: Northshore Carter 30 Built 1982 by Northshore in the UK and designed by Dick Carter A rare opportunity to own this exceptional racer/cruiser yacht complete with a superb inventory. I taught myself to sail with this lovely 30' LOA yacht. I've sailed her single handed to the Isle of Man and back and circumnavigated Anglesey single-handed. She's got me home through two nasty F8 gales with 2.5-4m seas. She points beautifully and takes full sail at 22 knots (you won't get that on a production boat). The inventory includes full Spinnaker gear, heating, GPS, Deep lead keel, huge sail wardrobe, shore power, new splashhood this year, auto pilot, autohelm instruments, Meisner Winches, Battery Charger and roller reefing foresail plus loads more, all listed below for you. If you search the brokerages you'll find a few Carter 30's but you'll notice they look completely different. That's because NorthShore made the first few (not sure how many) Carter 30's here in the UK and then the building moved to Poland. Northshore have a reputation for high quality, solid yachts and this lovely boat is no exception. You'll notice that the Poland built boats look box shaped on the topsides and the layout below completely different. Check it out, you'll see what I mean. Headroom is a little low in this version and that's because she has a nicer streamlined shape designed for racing and less windage. The yacht is presented in excellent condition and has been well looked after. She's been my pride and joy.
